What is dry eye? Dry eye is a condition where your eyes don’t have enough healthy tears to stay moist, comfortable, and protected. This can happen either because your eyes don’t make enough tears or because the tears lack natural oil to keep the tears together and on the eye between blinks. When the tear film becomes unstable, the surface of the eye can become irritated, leading to symptoms like burning, redness, and blurry vision.
What are the benefits of dry eye Treatment? Dry eye is a chronic condition, but treatment can significantly improve comfort and protect long‑term eye health. It can improve symptoms of burning and overall ocular comfort, as well as maintain clear vision. It also reduces the risk of eye infections and eyelid infections.
Types of dry eye: Dry eye comes in three main types. Aqueous‑deficient dry eye happens when your eyes don’t make enough tears and is usually associated with other systemic conditions. Evaporative dry eye (most common) occurs when tears dry out too quickly, often because the oil glands (Meibomian Glands) in the eyelids are not working well or are blocked.
